The Micromax Q7 is fairly boxy, with no curves or subtle protrusions, making it neat, simplistic, and easy to manage. The keypad, while comfortable, is difficult to view when lit and in direct light. The 2.2-inch display is brighter and much clearer than the one in the Q5. A hot swap microSD card slot is present, along with a 3.5 mm hands-free socket, and a micro USB port. The phone supports Bluetooth with A2DP and USB 2.0. The Java-based OS runs very smoothly and there’s no lag whatsoever. The bundled hands-free kit is comfortable and very capable of handling the handset’s superb audio quality. Tones are crisp, with good bass thanks to the EQ settings and other sound options. FM radio pick-up was also not an issue. In terms of video playback, the Q7 handles 3GP, MPEG4, AVI and FLV files very well. It’s amazing that it offers Wi-Fi at this low price, making surfi ng and downloading email (POP/IMAP) painless.Of course, EDGE, GPRS, and WAP are also available. There’s even a dedicated Java app for Facebook. The 2-megapixel camera is nothing out of the ordinary, but overall image clarity is not too bad.
The Q7 off ered about 4 hours of talk time on a single charge. Considering the features, especially Wi-Fi, the Rs 4,800 price tag makes the Q7 a great buy.
