Resolve The Issue Faced With Installation Of Windows 7 While Upgrading From Windows Vista

Many people who try to upgrade from Windows Vista to Windows 7, face some problems while installing Windows 7. When you try to upgrade from Vista by using the install method as “Upgrade”, the installation process of Windows 7 gets stuck at either 62% or 72%. The moment the setup process completes 62% or 72% of installation, it automatically stops or hangs.

The installation process cannot be resumed even if you restart your system. This problem with installation occurs because of the service “iphlpsvc” and on checking the file “setupact.log” you will find an error message as follows:

 Warning [0x080b50] MIG AsyncCallback_ApplyStatus: Progress appears to be stuck. Current progress: 62

 

You need to remember that this installation error is encountered only while you try to upgrade from Vista to Windows 7. If the error shown during installation exactly matches with the above mentioned error, you can resolve the issue and carry on with the installation using a simple workaround. Follow the below mentioned steps to resolve the issue. 

• First of all, you need to reboot your PC so that it rolls back to Vista Operating System.
• Now, click on Start button to display the Start Menu and right-click on “Computer”. Select the option “Properties” from the right-click context menu and then choose “Advanced Settings”.
• Click on “Environment Variables” and under System Variables section, click on “New”.
• Type the below mentioned variable information.

 Type in Variable Name as “MIG_UPGRADE_IGNORE_PLUGINS” and

Variable value as “IphlpsvcMigPlugin.dll”

• Finally, reboot your PC and start the installation process of Windows 7 again.

Once you have done this, the installation process won’t get struck anymore and you will be able to upgrade from Windows Vista to Windows 7 without facing too many problems.Please Comment!

Quite possible initially to attract customer services might be provided at affordable cost.... But the huge money is  paid by telecom companies  to get license... so it looks that 3G services will be unavailable for a common man for next 1 or 2 years

But because of strong competition among the different telecom companies it seems prices of 3G services will really goes down as in 2G services 

So we have to wait to enjoy full features of 3G services at affordable price....

Google:India has the third most internet users in the world!

According to Google India, India has the third most internet users in the world, with 100 million people surfing the information highway. China reigns supreme with 300 million users, with the US falling in between with 207 million users.

Apparently, more than a third of that nice round number is made up by 40 million mobile internet users, a fact that puts India’s growth potential in perspective – seeing as that is just 8% of the total mobile phone subscriber base in the country.

Google India’s Vinay Goel commented on the trend, “Our estimate is that by 2012, the number of mobile internet users will surpass those entering the net via their laptops or desktops. The number of mobile internet surfers in India is growing rapidly. In 2007, the country had only two million such users. Now the number has gone up 20 times.”

Interestingly, Google’s Goel also pointed out that a majority of the internet users in the country searched for and downloaded music

Nvidia Tegra 3 quad core 1.5GHz shapes up

Nvidia is about to announce its Tegra 2 3D chip for tablets and mobile phones and the recently leaked roadmap offers a glimpse of Tegra 3 chips.
Tegra 2 3D in T25 format looks after tablet computers and promises 3D display support powered by Dual Cortex A9 processor that can clock to 1.2GHz. The CPU should be capable of achieving 5520 MIPS.

The production starts in Q1 2010 but according to some industry sources we should see some first designs by the end of this year. The phone variant shares the same specification but has Tegra 2 3D AP25 brand.

Tegra 3 T30 on the other hand looks like a quad core processor based on A9 cortex core that can work all the way to 1.5GHz and score 13800 MIPS. Nvidia promises 3 times faster graphics Blu-ray video and 1920x1200 display support. The chip supports Ultra low power CPU mode, something that is definitely necessary to put a quad core in a tablet. The plan was to sample the chip in Q4 2010.

The phone version is Tegra 3 AP30 and comes in dual or quad core variants. It supports 1366x768 resolution and just like its T30 brother it is most likely a 28nm processor.

Windows Mobile 7 will upset the status quo

Beancounters at the analyst outfit Ovum have warned not to write off Microsoft from the mobile market. The outfit said that Windows Phone 7 (WP7) will ‘upset the status quo' in the smartphone market in 2011.

Ovum claimed that WP7 will be the fastest growing platform which is a little contrary to what the other analysts say but is in like with what Microsoft has been expecting. Ovum said that Android will overtake iPhone as the favourite OS with mobile developers by the end of the year, perhaps indicating that while WP7 could grow quickly, Android is likely to have a good year too and continue its rapid growth.

Microsoft VP Joe Belfiore has previously said it will take certainly more than a couple of months before WP7 is profitable and has a good smartphone market share. There is a chance that WP7 could enjoy a burst of growth if cheaper handsets take off. The eagerly anticipated update to the current OS, called Mango is also expected soon, but it is a long way away from Ovum's dramatic prediction coming true.

Mobile numbers, addresses on Facebook 'a security risk

Sydney, Jan 17 (ANI): A security expert has warned that users should remove their home addresses and phone numbers from their Facebook accounts.

Graham Cluley said the website now gives third parties access to that information.

The website said in a blog post at the weekend that it would give developers of applications access to the contact information of users who install their apps.

"These permissions must be explicitly granted to your application by the user via our standard permissions dialogs. Please note that these permissions only provide access to a user's address and mobile phone number, not their friend's addresses or mobile phone numbers," the Sydney Morning Herald quoted Facebook's Jeff Bowen as saying.

However, Sophos security expert Cluley, has raised doubts over the move.

"You have to ask yourself - is Facebook putting the safety of its 500+ million users as a top priority with this move?" he said.

"It won't take long for scammers to take advantage of this new facility, to use for their own criminal ends."

Cluley advised that users should take personal info such as home addresses and mobile numbers off their pages.

"You can imagine, for instance, that bad guys could set up a rogue app that collects mobile phone numbers and then uses that information for the purposes of SMS spamming or sells on the data to cold-calling companies," he said. (ANI)

Windows Error While Running Uninstall.exe

Uninstal.exe is a Windows uninstall program. But in some specific set of conditions, the process might replace FAT32 MBR, thereby resulting into inaccessible primary partition (usually C:) of system. Such situations require performing steps like recreating the primary partition and reinstalling Windows. So, to restore the lost information, you should use your recent data backup available or scan your affected hard drive by using powerful data recovery applications.

Consider an instance, you try to run Uninstal.exe in real mode, but instead of expected behavior, you encounter an error message describing that Winundo.dat is missing or damaged. The error further gives you an option to continue. Clicking either of the options (Yes or No) gives you the below error message:

"Invalid system disk"

This error appears after the system restarts.

Cause

The above behavior is exhibited when the following set of conditions is true:

You have converted your primary drive to FAT32 file system using Drive Converter utility
You have run Uninstal.exe from Windows startup disk or restored it manually
You have run Uninstal.exe in real mode

Or

You have installed Windows
You have used a third-party disk partitioning utility
You have run Uninstal.exe

In the former case, running Uninstal.exe replaces FAT32 MBR with backup of FAT16 MBR and you observe the above error messages. However, in the latter scenario, the issue is observed if partitioning utility affects the partitioning structure of the disk.

Solution

To resolve such issues, you need to perform these steps in order:

Recreate you primary drive using utilities like Fdisk.exe
Reformat the primary drive
Reinstall Windows and other applications
Restore data from backup

1. Click on "Start" in the bottom left hand corner of screen
2. Click on "Run"
3. Type in "command" and hit ok

You should now be at an MSDOS prompt screen.

4. Type "ipconfig /release" just like that, and hit "enter"
5. Type "exit" and leave the prompt
6. Right-click on "Network Places" or "My Network Places" on your desktop.
7. Click on "properties"

You should now be on a screen with something titled "Local Area Connection", or something close to that, and, if you have a network hooked up, all of your other networks.

8. Right click on "Local Area Connection" and click "properties"
9. Double-click on the "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" from the list under the "General" tab
10. Click on "Use the following IP address" under the "General" tab
11. Create an IP address (It doesn't matter what it is. I just type 1 and 2 until i fill the area up).
